Transcribe WhatsApp voice notes to text
Forward a voice message to the VibeVoice bot and read it instead of playing it. Punctuated text, back in the same chat. No app to install, and no account to try it.

How do you transcribe a WhatsApp voice note to text?
Forward any voice message directly to the VibeVoice WhatsApp bot. The bot transcribes it and sends punctuated text back into the same chat — no app download, and the first 5 minutes need no account at all.
After that, linking a free account gives you its 30 minutes a month, which the bot draws on the same as the desktop client and the browser. The audio is deleted as soon as the transcript exists or the attempt fails, and the message reaches us through Meta’s WhatsApp Business Cloud API.
Three steps from voice message to readable text
Inside the chats you already have — iOS, Android, macOS, Web.
Forward the audio
Hold the voice message, tap Forward, pick the VibeVoice bot. Nothing to export, nothing to upload.
It comes back written out
The audio is transcribed with punctuation and sentence breaks already applied, so what comes back is readable rather than a block of lowercase.
Read or copy the text
It arrives as a message in the same chat. Copy it, search it, quote it into an email.

Voice tools compared for WhatsApp voice messages
| Tool | WhatsApp bot | Runs on |
|---|---|---|
| VibeVoice | Direct to the bot | Windows, macOS and Linux, plus the bot itself |
| Wispr Flow | None | Windows, macOS, iOS and Android |
| Superwhisper | None | macOS, Windows and iOS — no Linux |
| Otter.ai | None | Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android |
| Dragon NaturallySpeaking | None | Windows desktop and iOS and Android (Dragon Anywhere) |
| MacWhisper | None | macOS desktop and iOS |
| Talon Voice | None | Windows, macOS and Linux (X11) |
| Aqua Voice | None | Windows, macOS and iOS |
None of them takes a voice note from inside a chat, whatever they run on: the audio has to reach an app or a web portal first.
What happens to the audio
Somebody else’s voice is on that recording, so this matters more here than elsewhere.
- The audio is deleted as soon as the transcript exists or the attempt fails.
- Neither the audio nor the transcript is ever used to train or fine-tune a model — that is Section 4 of the Privacy Policy.
- The message and your number pass through Meta Platforms Ireland on the WhatsApp Business Cloud API before they reach us. That part is theirs, not ours.
- If the voice note is someone else’s, getting their consent before you forward it is your call to make.
One account, one quota
Minutes used through the bot come out of the same monthly allowance as the desktop client and the browser. Nothing is metered twice.
- Free tier: 30 minutes a month, no card.
- Pro: 180 minutes a month for €3.
- System-wide desktop client available for Linux, macOS, and Windows 11. See professional scenarios on our use cases page.
Common questions
How do I transcribe a WhatsApp voice note?+
Forward the voice message directly to the VibeVoice WhatsApp bot. The bot replies in the same chat with punctuated text.
Do I need to install an app or create an account?+
No to both. Send a voice note and the text comes back in the same chat — no app, no signup. Guest use runs to 5 minutes in total, and past that you link a free account to carry on; that is also what gives you the monthly quota and desktop dictation.
Are my WhatsApp voice messages private?+
On our side: the audio is deleted as soon as the transcript exists or the attempt fails, and neither it nor the transcript is ever used to train a model. One part is not on our side, and it is the part a plain yes would hide — the message and your number reach us through Meta’s WhatsApp Business Cloud API, so that hop is theirs.
Can I forward someone else’s voice note?+
That is a question about their consent rather than about this service, and we are not in a position to answer it for you. The bot raises the same point the first time you write to it: under § 201 StGB you should have consent from everyone recorded. Whether you have it is your call to make.
Does WhatsApp transcription count against my VibeVoice quota?+
Yes. Transcribed minutes via the WhatsApp bot use the same monthly quota as desktop and web streaming. Free accounts include 30 minutes per month.
Can other dictation tools like Wispr Flow or Superwhisper do this?+
No. Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, Otter.ai, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, MacWhisper, Talon Voice and Aqua Voice all run as their own applications — some on the phone as well as the desktop — and none of them appears as a bot inside a messenger, so the voice note has to be exported and taken to them.
