VibeVoice Refine — AI Processing Agreement
Last updated: 2026-10-13
This agreement explains what happens to your text when you use VibeVoice Refine, and it is what you agree to when you switch Refine on in your VibeVoice account. It adds to our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service; where it says nothing, they apply.
1. What Refine does
Refine edits a dictation with a language model after you have dictated it: clean it up, translate it, summarise it, or apply an instruction you wrote yourself ("own prompt"). You choose the action each time; nothing runs on its own.
2. What is processed
- The text of the one dictation you chose, or the text you type or paste into the try box on our website, together with the instruction for the action (our built-in instruction, or your own prompt).
- No audio. The recording itself never leaves our servers for Refine.
- Only when you choose an action. Dictating does not send anything to the language model; pressing an action key does.
Your dictation may contain information about your health, beliefs or other special categories of personal data (Art. 9 GDPR), or about other people. Refine processes whatever the chosen text contains; it cannot filter it.
3. Who processes it, and where
The text is sent to Groq UK Limited (3 Hammersmith Grove, London W6 0ND, United Kingdom), our processor under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Groq runs openly published language models (GPT-OSS) and processes the text in the USA through its affiliate Groq LLC, then returns the edited text. The EU has found the United Kingdom's data protection adequate (Art. 45 GDPR); for the onward transfer to the USA, Groq's agreement requires a lawful transfer mechanism, and the EU Commission's standard contractual clauses form part of that agreement (Art. 46 Para. 2 lit. c GDPR). Under that agreement Groq may use further sub-processors of its own and process in other countries, always under the same safeguards.
- Not stored: Groq processes the text only to produce the answer and does not store it after the request (zero data retention).
- Not used for Groq's own purposes: under the data processing agreement Groq may process the text only to provide its service on our instructions. We do not use your text to train any model either.
- Transfer outside the EU: to the United Kingdom under the EU's adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR); for the onward transfer to the USA, Groq's agreement requires a lawful transfer mechanism, and the EU Commission's standard contractual clauses form part of that agreement (Art. 46 Para. 2 lit. c GDPR).
4. What we keep
We do not keep the text you processed or the result; the result goes straight back to your app or browser. We keep:
- your agreement: which version of this agreement you accepted, when, and through which channel;
- counters: how many tokens and runs your account used per calendar month, to apply your plan's allowance;
- one event per run: the time and the kind of action (for example "clean up"), never the text;
- your settings: the languages on your Translate list and the prompts you wrote yourself.
All of it is deleted with your account and included when you export your data.
5. Legal basis
- Running an action you request: Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b GDPR.
- Special categories of personal data your text may contain: your explicit consent, Art. 9 Para. 2 lit. a GDPR, which you give by switching Refine on.
- The transfer to the United Kingdom: Art. 45 GDPR (adequacy decision); the onward transfer to the USA under Groq's agreement, which includes the standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 Para. 2 lit. c GDPR).
6. The result is generated by AI
The result is produced by a language model. It can be wrong, leave something out or change the meaning. Read it before you paste or send it; you are responsible for what you do with it.
7. Who can use it
Refine is part of the Ultra plan and includes a monthly allowance, shown in your VibeVoice account. If your account is not on Ultra, nothing is sent.
8. Withdrawal
You can switch Refine off at any time — in your VibeVoice account on our website or in the desktop app. From then on, nothing is sent. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the processing before it (Art. 7 Para. 3 GDPR).
9. Changes
If this agreement changes in substance, or the text would go to a different provider, we ask you again before Refine runs. Until you agree to the new version, nothing is sent.
10. Business customers
If you use VibeVoice on behalf of an organisation that has concluded our data processing agreement, Groq is a sub-processor under Annex 2 of that agreement, and the organisation's rights under it — including the right to object to a new sub-processor — apply.
11. Your rights and contact
Your rights (access, erasure, objection, complaint to a supervisory authority) and our contact details are set out in our Privacy Policy.
